Here at Jivin' Performance Dogs, I strive to produced balanced, healthy and sound dogs that can do it all. All of my dogs live in the house and are part of the family. They enjoy daily hikes, swimming, playing frisbee and training in various activities. I love a dog that is ready to go when asked, but also has the ability to just relax when nothing is going on. I do not breed frequently, but when I do, I strive to produce happy and well rounded pups!
Our goal is to raise pups that are sound, in mind, body and spirit. To that end, we use elements of both Puppy Culture and Avidog to raise our puppies. We believe it is the gold standard in puppy rearing. More information about both programs can be found here:
Our puppies will be born and raised in the house. At first, they will be kept in a quieter room and eventually moved to the main part of the house where they will be exposed to all the sights, sounds and surfaces of every day living. We will prepare the pups early on by performing Early Neurologic Stimulation as well as Early Scent Introduction from days 3 to 16. After that we will gradually begin the socialization phase and expose them to as many things as possible before they leave for their new homes. Here's a great article by Dr. Carmen Battaglia on ENS:

Before the pups leave for their news homes, we will have introduced them to crates, worked on food drive and clicker training, created strong tug drive, played recall games and taken them on field trips, among many other things. They will be exposed to as much as possible, in a safe and careful manner, so they are ready to take on the world when they leave! We want the pups to have the absolute best start in life, to maximize their potential not only as performance dogs, but well rounded companions.
Our dogs are fed a species appropriate raw diet and receive minimal vaccines. Puppies will be be weaned to raw as well and acclimated to kibble for those homes that choose to feed it. We do allow our females to wean pups naturally, at their own rate, as we think this is in the best interest for the puppies.
Patty is a licensed veterinary technician, and was one of the first Certified Pet Dog Trainers in Virginia. She is an avid competitor in dog agility and has also participated in herding and other dog sports. Her extensive knowledge of animal husbandry combined with vast experience in dog behavior provides her with the ability to raise the most physically, mentally and emotionally healthy pups possible.
We take breeding very seriously so we will screen potential homes thoroughly. Please don't be offended, our pups truly are part of our extended family and we just want what's best for the puppies we bring into this world. And at any point in time, we will always take back any dog we have bred, for any reason.
If you have any questions at all about our pups, or how we raise them, please do not hesitate to contact us at agilepaw@gmail.com.
